Bob Freeman Airshows
Bob Freeman transitioned from competition aerobatics to airshow aerobatics starting in 2015, and by 2018 he quickly progressed to unrestricted surface-level aerobatics. This season his schedule includes performances at the Truckee Tahoe Airshow, the Utah Airshow, the Longmont Expo, the Great Bend AirFest, Wings and Wheels air and car shows in Sheridan, Wyoming and Spanish Fork, Utah, and EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, along with the 2024 Pikes Peak Regional Airshow.
The single-seat Extra 330SX has a steel fuselage, carbon-fiber wings and tail, and a 580 cubic inch, flat six cylinder, air-cooled 315-horsepower Lycoming AEIO-580 engine.
Bob Freeman reports, “The new Extra 330 SX is the third and by far the most capable Extra that I’ve owned, having previously owned a 330SC and a 330LX. The SX has a 20% lower moment of inertia around the wing axis than the 8 time world champion 330SC, resulting from moving the engine rearward and the pilot forward towards the center of gravity. This enables faster end over end rotations and exciting new aerobatic maneuvers. The ailerons have been improved over the already incredible ailerons of the SC. The weight of the SX is nearly 200 lbs lighter than the LX resulting in increased vertical performance. It is a joy to fly.”
